LAU-UN Day
LAU is proudly launching the LAU–UN Day, a yearly event in which all United Nations (UN) agencies in Lebanon participate. The main goal of the LAU–UN Day is to introduce the UN to students, as a beacon of humanity, social development, cultural heritage and humane connections, and not only a political tool. Check the poster.
At the event, students are given the chance to network and learn more about the UN system in Lebanon, while also being exposed to potential internship/volunteering opportunities. The LAU–UN Day is a yearly activity where both campuses merge their commitment and passion for development by organizing the event in close collaboration with UNIC Beirut.
Through LAU’s Model United Nations program led by the university’s Outreach and Civic Engagement Unit [OCE], LAU pledged to engage its students in all aspects of the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDG).
As part of a successful partnership with the United Nations Information Center in Beirut [UNIC], LAU promotes UN International Days and raises awareness on social issues — including the environment, politics, civic and cultural matters.
This year 22 UN Agencies are gathering at LAU for the LAU-UN Day, on April 27, 2011, at the university’s Beirut campus, where they will offer students information about their mission.
At noon, LAU President Dr. Joseph G. Jabbra and Director of UNIC, Mr. Bahaa Elkoussy will give short statements of support in an official launching ceremony where various university executives, UN Agencies Directors and ambassadors will be present.
