Study abroad and international exchange program

LAU is part of international networks that link it to more than a 1000 institutions worldwide!

Our mission is to make every city a classroom. LAU has a legacy to succeed; it does not come without perseverance, high standards and students’ satisfaction. International programs are like a global visa connecting international universities and facilitating the travel, education and professional upbringing of students. With its accreditation and various independent educational agreements, LAU is currently carrying out a commitment to engage in international student exchange programs in order to literally "make the world your oyster."

LAU is part of the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) and the Institute of International Education (IIE). We are currently tailor making new bilateral agreements based on academic and professional needs. Regular updates will be posted pertaining to scholarship opportunities and study abroad programs.

  • Ensure high standards and students’ satisfaction
  • Act as an advising body to students on opportunities matching their qualifications
  • Oversee special services for incoming and outgoing students, such as visas, planning, administering orientation programs, housing and other activities, when possible
  • Serve as an advocate and a catalyst for study abroad and international exchange at LAU
  • Guide and support the transfer of incoming students

Why study abroad?

The world is becoming a mix of interdependent communities whereby education is the pillar but interaction is the key. Exchange programs allow students to live in new communities, experience them and learn their richness.

Classes are essential to a concrete educational path; when accompanied by exchange programs it exposes students to an international outreach and civic openness, which provides them with a competitive advantage. There are various benefits to global education:

  • Promotes sustainable development
  • Increases personal enrichment
  • Strengthens career advancement
  • Provides networking exposure
  • Tags "ambition" on your CV
  • Makes you gain international qualification

Am I eligible?

Each program has its requirements but generally, the below is the accepted guideline:

For outgoing students:

  • You are in your 3rd or 4th semester (junior year or beginning sophomore year)
  • Your last 30 credits will be taught at LAU (not applicable to exchange students under MOUs, check with the office first)
  • You have a minimum 2.8 GPA
  • You are outgoing, and eager to learn about other cultures
