Beirut Marathon
Each year, LAU’s community members participate in the annual Beirut Marathon held every November. Throughout the year members of the LAU community passionate about running, come together to run and train. For those interested in supporting the marathon but not running in it, the university provides plenty of opportunity to get involved and share their community spirit. Each year LAU hosts a stand at the marathon offering refreshments to runners and entertainment to the crowds.
Last year, a total of 85 LAU students, faculty, staff, and alumni from both Beirut and Byblos campuses participated in the different races of the 2010 Beirut Marathon (5km, 10km, and 42 km), on November 30, 2010.
We would like to encourage you this year to volunteer and show the whole country how active is LAU student involvement in this highly respectable national event.
As a volunteer you will be assigned any of the following tasks:
- Representing LAU in the Beirut Expo from November 23rd till the 26th at the LAU stand ( a mandatory stop for the 32,000+ runners who will need to collect their Bibs {race numbers} in order to participate in the different runs. {Volunteers will be needed from 3:00 pm till 8:30pm} )
- Giving water to runners during the race day of November 27th ( LAU will set up a stage with a dance show revealing the talent and enthusiasm of LAU students and demonstrating support for the true meaning of sportsmanship
Show your support for the Marathon and for LAU’s spirit of student leadership and register online.
- We need 100 volunteers for the Water Station and around 50 students for all dates at the Expo.
