Advising instructions
Step 1: Log in
Go to https://banweb.lau.edu.lb/. You can also click on the Banner link that appears on the LAU homepage and many other parts of the LAU website.
- Your User ID is the nine-digit LAU ID number found on your admission letter.
- The first time you log in, your PIN is your date of birth in the form of ddmmyy (for example: February 5, 1981 = 050281). As soon as you log in, that PIN will expire and you will be prompted to choose a new one for yourself. It must be a six-digit number. Don’t give your PIN to anyone!
Step 2: Choose your courses
Following the courses listed in your contract sheet, make a preliminary selection to discuss with your advisor.
- Go to: Student Services and Financial Aid, then Advising.
- Select the correct term (semester), then Submit.
- Press Create new form.
- Start adding courses to your list. Either enter the course number (for example, PHL101) or use the “lookup” link to select the course you want from a list. Then click Add. Repeat until you have all the courses you think you should take.
Your “form” (list of courses) will appear as “pending” until you see your advisor and he/she approves it. If you want to keep a copy of it handy, go ahead and print it.
Now you can Exit the advising system. Remember, you are not registered for any courses yet. Registration will come later, after you see your advisor.
Step 3: See your advisor
During the advising period, make an appointment with your advisor (check the advisors available for your major). He or she will access the selection you made, discuss it with you, make changes if necessary, and then approve your selection.
Now you’re ready to complete your registration online.
